Several tourists entered a protected area in Constanța County with ATVs. In the images published on Facebook you can see how in the area of the Chituc mountain range in the Corbu commune there are several all-terrain vehicles circulating at high speed on the shore. In addition, because it is a protected area, many birds in the reserve try to fly scared of those who have ventured onto the boardwalk.
Csibi Magor, an environmental activist, told Digi24 that we have been talking about these kinds of events for a long time, but we rarely see an action from the authorities.
In response, Ioan Bucur, head of the Razim-Sinoe service within the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve Administration, explained that the ATVs bypassed the barrier at the entrance and drove her past the police station, because there are many roads in the area. derivations, even through the reeds. The authorities expected that the criminals would be fined upon their return, who mobilized after the images appeared in public space.
“Every week we meet people who break the law. That’s why I asked the police for help, the gendarmerie,” said Ioan Bucur. The official says that these people have a lot of courage and generally do not recognize anything or say they did not know that it is a protected area.
The fines for such acts range between 3,000 and 6,000 lei.
Ioan Bucur also said that so far fines of more than 12,500 lei have been applied for conducting economic activities in protected areas.
Csibi Magor thinks that perhaps the centers in the area that rent ATVs should be reviewed, because people do not come with these machines to the sea. Ioan Bucur replied that in his area of competence there are no such centers or authorization for such a thing, but from the information he has, a company based in Mihail Kogălniceanu would take care of the rentals.
“I think it is a question of culture. First, we must explain to people why it is not desirable to do these things, how the areas they visit are degraded in this way. And second, the authorities must intervene and not from This way, but every time they enter unauthorized areas with motorized means to be fined without exception, “said Csibi Magor. However, the activist acknowledges that in some areas there are not enough personnel to monitor these situations.
