The first Romanians expelled from Great Britain after the arrival of Brexit in the country. The British authorities organized a special flight on Wednesday to send 30 former detainees to the country, most of them convicted of theft or robbery. Some of them have recently been released from prison and the authorities fear they may relapse, so they accompanied them to their country of origin. People arrived at Otopeni airport at noon, angered by the British decision to force them to leave England.
“We all come from jail, there, since Brexit entered, the dogs with pretzels on their tails are on the run. Everyone puts what they fish at home, they put immigration, they put everything at home! ”Marian says.
The 41-year-old was also on the deportee plane from Britain. He says that his probation was hastened by the organization of this flight, because otherwise he would have had to serve at least half a year of the sentence he received for theft.
– They sent us back to the field, we have to start stealing, we don’t have work, we don’t have anything, we don’t have food, where to stay, don’t we have to bring something? He’s driving us to crime, accuses Marian.
“Did you finish your sentence there?”
– Yes. He gave me three years for a robbery!
“What would you do in England if you stayed?”
“We were looking for work, miss, what could we do?” I also committed small crimes, I took food out of the store, what could I do, nothing more.
The 30 expelled Romanians were taken directly from prisons or migrant centers, in the case of those released on parole.
“They took my papers, look, all my papers stayed there, in England,” complains one of the deportees. I kept my birth certificate, my identity card, a gold bracelet, a phone, a watch, he didn’t give me anything, the man says.
– What happened, if you came to Romania by force?
– I know that? I stole and landed in jail, what?
– Was coming to Romania a correct measure?
– It was not good, but if they thought so, what do you want, it is their country, they order it.
– How was the flight?
– Very good very good!
“What are you going to do from here on?”
– God knows!
Another ex-con, whom the British declared ungrateful, told us that he would not stay in Romania because of low wages. You intend to immigrate to Canada:
– I had a job, I had everything there. Why did I come here?
– What were you doing there?
– I also worked in the laundry, and in … sorting.
– Where are you from, from jail?
– Gives!
“Why did you end up in jail there?”
– A little crime with a Pole, that’s all.
– What are you going to do in Romania now?
– No, what to do? I’m going for 5-6 million, am I going here? That is where the money is earned, you see that there is a lot of money being made, that is where the Brexitu is taken out!
Other former detainees say they were separated from their families by this drastic measure.
– Why don’t you think it’s a fair measure?
– There has been too much racism and discrimination. My whole family is there …
-He has a wife, children there, his mother, his father … He lives here alone, adds a companion.
– What was he convicted of?
– By, by … bye, good morning!
All passengers on the special flight were examined by the British authorities before boarding the plane. Still, they will need to be quarantined.
“You know very well that people coming from Great Britain are quarantined for 14 days, even if they have a negative test,” Prime Minister Florin Cîțu said on Wednesday.
Noting that as people who normally do not comply with the law, having been imprisoned, may not comply with quarantine, the Prime Minister acknowledged that there is this risk, but added that this risk exists for all people, not just those here. . “It exists all the time and we have done it, we have had situations in the past and we act in accordance with the law,” said the prime minister.
Britain is preparing to expel 30 Poles, who also broke the law on British soil and were convicted.
