Scandal with dozens of people involved in the Nădlac Customs due to the new rules to enter the country. The waiting time is very long and people are unhappy. Many of them are outraged that they have to be quarantined, even though they have been tested for Covid-19. The director of DSP Arad, Horea Timiş, spoke on Digi24 about the current situation at customs, where in the last eight hours alone, more than 800 people were quarantined and since the beginning of the year, says the director of DSP, dozens of Romanians have been quarantined “by mistake”. At the same time, there is information that there is a computerized application that would facilitate the work of the customs authorities, but it is not used.
Romanians are unhappy with the sudden rule change and the idea that they should be quarantined, even with the negative PCR test, has caused some people to lose their temper. In the last eight hours alone, more than 800 Romanians were quarantined, only at Nădlac I Customs and Nădlac II Customs.
There are 67 countries on the yellow list, including the United Kingdom, for which the quarantine measure is automatically set for two weeks.
Dozens of people were accidentally quarantined
“We provide epidemiological triage in customs but we apply current legislation. I know there are complaints, all colleagues have been seeing them for a few weeks, after the waiting time has been increased. Regarding the new measures, the PCR test is specified, not the rapid one, this must be clearly understood by everyone ”, said the director of DSP Arad, Horea Timiş.
According to him, errors often occur due to the small number of employees who have to carry out epidemiological triage of those who enter the country, so that since the beginning of the year “dozens of people have been accidentally quarantined.”
The director of DSP Arad knows the situation on the country’s border, but assures that it is due to a lack of personnel.
“We have a problem, we have no staff. The employees are exhausted, they can no longer cope with the large number of people. It is very difficult for a nurse to stay at -11 degrees, as it was last night, to do the epidemiological triage of hundreds of people alone, ”said Horea Timiş.
According to him, the lack of staff is due to the fact that the school doctors and nurses returned to the school, and only “twenty-somethings” came to work in customs, while, for everything to go well, it is necessary that at least 21 employees plus.
There is an application, but it is not used
An application that allowed each citizen to fill in their personal data, so as not to have to wait hours at customs, would have made everyone’s job easier.
We discovered that such an app exists, even last year, when at least 1,200 people passed through Nădlac Customs every day, but the authorities did not approve it, so it cannot be used, says the DSP official.
“It was an initiative in the first wave of the pandemic. Some colleagues from Bucharest created an application of this type, but I understood that it did not pass the higher forums. There is a functional application, but the specialized commissions did not accept it. It received the STS agreement, it was implemented up to the pilot project stage, but for various reasons everything stopped here, ”said Horea Timiş.
