The unicameral parliament, a populist madness. From the DJ Ciolo equipo team we expect anything

A new day, a new scandal among the ruling partners. After the dispute between Dacian Cioloș and Sorin Cîmpeanu, it was the turn of the NLP deputy Daniel Gheorghe to attack Anca Dragu. The new head of the Senate stated that she will create a parliamentary commission to implement the 2009 referendum, when Romanians voted for a unicameral parliament, with a maximum of 300 MPs. Ghoerghe disagrees, stating that Romania has had a “bicameral Parliament since 1864.” Furthermore, he says that the idea is a “populist madness” and that from the “DJ Ciolo C team we can expect absolutely anything” because the word “national” has gotten into their throats.

Daniel Gheorghe, MP for NLP: I see that Mrs Anca Paliu-Dragu de Cioloș is only talking about the transition to the unicameral Parliament.

The unicameral parliament is specific to small countries with “limited interests”, not to a major European nation like Romania.

Considering that Ms. Dragu woke up in her first parliamentary term directly as Speaker of the Senate, making the second man in the state after the President, I can consider these intentions as natural consequences of her euphoria but I can also blame them for lack of experience and political understanding. completely wrong foundations of parliamentarism.

We, Romania, have had a bicameral Parliament since 1864 when Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza founded the Senate under the name of “weighting body”, and the only time in history we had a unicameral legislature is during the sad memory of the dictatorship Communist who imposed the butaphor called the “Great National Assembly”.

Personally, as a national-liberal, I openly support reducing the number of parliamentarians as long as everything is done responsibly and within the limits of the Romanian Constitution, but I firmly affirm that the unicameral parliament is a populist folly that can seriously affect the functioning of Romanian democracy. As well as the role of the Romanian Parliament in expressing the sovereignty of the people!

Otherwise, from USR-PLUS and DJ Cioloș’s team we can expect absolutely anything, democracy is very uncomfortable for those who have the word “National” in their throats!

The bureaucratic international cannot overcome the balance of power in Romania with the tank, nor can it reduce almost two centuries of Romanian parliamentary history to absurdity!
