The Mayor General of the Capital, Nicușor Dan, announced that the emergency repairs to the retractable roof of the National Arena were completed, but the report of the Control Body shows that there is no corrective maintenance contract and the responsible Municipal Company did not oppose the use of the roof. I knew it was faulty.
“The good news is that emergency repairs to the retractable roof of the National Arena have been completed. Therefore, the problem that appeared earlier this month has been resolved.
The less good news is related to the report of the Control Body on the maintenance of the roof of the National Arena, a report that I received recently. The main conclusions of the report, in summary:
1. There has not been and is not yet a corrective maintenance contract for the retractable roof of the Arena. Only preventive maintenance services were contracted.
2. The Municipal Company Tehnologia Informației București SA (which had responsibilities in the management of the roof) knew since October 12 that there are defects in this roof, but did not object to the continued use of the roof.
3. The roof was operated in violation of the restrictions, even in snowy conditions, which directly caused its damage, and the City Council was forced to contract emergency repair services.
My conclusions: the culprit will pay and the Capital City Council will hire a corrective maintenance service.
And a clarification for the public: the former mayor Firea lied again, stating that we are in the guarantee period of the stadium. This warranty, which included the faulty roof mechanism, was 36 months, so it expired a long time ago. The City Council of the capital will charge the Municipal Company Tehnologia Informăției București SA the amount of 217,500 lei + VAT, the equivalent value of the roof repair ”, shows the message from Nicu Danor Dan, published on Wednesday on Facebook.
The National Arena in Bucharest could not be used since mid-December, as the roof was in danger of collapsing.
