Virgil Musta, one of the authoritative voices of Romanian medicine, spoke openly about the problems that could arise with the return of students to school. The doctor does not rule out an increase in the number of infections, but he also has an optimistic version of the situation in Romania.
The start of classes on September 14 divided public opinion. Some citizens are of the opinion that the return of children to school should take place on the date set by the Government, while others are in a diametrically opposite position. doctor Virgil Musta, one of the people who has been at the forefront of the fight against SARS-CoV-2 for months, DC News, the current situation in the country.
“I believe that schools must start. Obviously, everything must be done according to the situations of the territory. It goes without saying that, when local cases are massive, students should not go to school, but my opinion is that we should not avoid sending them to classes whenever possible. We must follow the guide developed these days by the authorities, because compliance with the regulations has always proven to be the right way. We are in a period of relaxation, and this has increased of the number of cases nationwide, but we must not be afraid. We followed the instructions and reached the desired result. We have the examples from the western states where the school started. I believe that students from Romania can follow the rules without problems. We speak here social distancing, imposed hygiene“Dr. Virgil Musta stressed.
The specialist thinks that a measure that will be difficult for the little ones to follow will be to wear the mask during classes: “There will be a problem here. It is difficult for children to realize that it is important to be able to wear a mask. This will probably be an important item and somewhere quite dangerous. Most children who get the virus are known to are asymptomatic and become dangerous to other family members. ”Musta also specified.
“We need educated children. School is essential for any people on the planet”
Virgil Musta warns that in families where there are people with medical problems, there must be careful monitoring of the children who come to the bus: “We now know that people with comorbidities are highly exposed, so in these situations we need more attention. Otherwise, I said, I agree with the resumption of courses, but under those special conditions. The online school can be a variant, but not for all settings in the country. Think what it would mean for students who can’t go to computer school to skip classes. We need educated children. School is essential. We need to learn to work with this virus. Let’s not fool ourselves into thinking that it will disappear overnight, but we must do it in such a way that we realize that the danger exists and is great. Relaxation must be understood correctly!“, Dr. Virgil Musta stressed.
