Yes, we challenge you! AND? TVR, New Years Eve with the Big Party and why don’t we see the forest of trees! What do Vacanța Mare, Ionuț Cristache, Augusta Lazaroz and the girl from Zile cu stil have in common (you know, crazy advertising on Plush Bio? I’m still trying a short X-ray (hopefully).

Let me explain:

“It’s a shame!”, “I’ll take care of myself!”, “Down with Doina Gradea”, “Is this education?” It rained with reproaches and there is a great scandal with New Years Eve. The 50,000 euro one, which only Paginademedia.ro wrote exclusively about him. Ok, we’re going to remove the Grade, but does that fix anything? Nothing! New Years Eve is just one small spot in a long line of defiance.

The problem is structural in TVR: it does not depend on who is the boss, but on how the boss is put. Politician! As long as the management of public television is called politically, the whole mechanism works as such and fuels the challenge! And as in politics meritocracy does not prevail, but loyalty, so it is in TVR. Each boss brought his own, did not apply any criteria of competence.

CHALLENGE is the letter of the law in a political system like TVR. And this is not a specific man. The system allows it. A system in which no one is accountable to anyone.

WE CHALLENGE PARLIAMENT. He remembers how he came to Parliament with lawyer Doina Gradea and refused to respond to the commissions. He had a political “backing”.

WE CHALLENGE COLLEAGUES. In the station appeared names outside of television, without taking into account the professionals (yet) of TVR. The frustrations are great, but no one has the courage to speak up. An example: Augusta Lazarov, brought “through the back door.” I do not dispute the professional qualities, but the way it appeared. Almost no one knew. What came out, you see: a morning called With the head at dawn, but with the spirit “Good evening, children!”

WE CHALLENGE THE PRESS. When Ionuț Cristache came to TVR, I asked him about what criteria. No clear answer. Everyone only saw that Cristache had been on Antena 3 before, from where he “annoyed” Traian Băsescu. And then, on Facebook, he spoke directly against Klaus Iohannis. Let the press say what they want, we don’t care! What will happen to us? We sue them if I write about wages!

And in relation to the Great Party, I asked them how they were chosen, why so much money. The mail with the questions is still on TVR.

WE CHALLENGE THE PUBLIC. I have written many times in Paginademedia.ro about the content of TVR. New Years Eve is just one example. What else does the audience matter? Anyway, the government pays us. Does it matter how many are watching?

WE CHALLENGE LEADERSHIP. Vacanța Mare, like Augusta Lazarov, came to TVR, avoiding the opinion of the board of directors. With all sorts of tricks (the contract with Vacanța Mare, for example, was torn to pieces: 24,800 euros per company, the rest parted ways with Mugur Mihăescu and Radu Pietreanu. After 25,000 euros, there were other rules).

WE CHALLENGE THE LAW. See the case of the program Days in style, about which I wrote earlier, where the presenter Alina Ionescu did harsh advertising of cosmetics (how Alina Ionescu got on TVR is another topic!) And who should fine us? What, we give our money?

The challenge system has always worked, regardless of the president. Only the “scale” of this challenge mattered, influenced by the personality of each president (and it peaked with Doina Gradea).

Do you think another president would fundamentally change the institution? Incorrect! One person can only lower the level of challenge more or less, but the system is still vulnerable. And someone else will be found to speculate.

Only structural change – depoliticization of appointments, management contracts with punishable objectives and responsibilities, clear criteria for all positions – can rebuild TVR. That is, change the law.

Otherwise, let’s not be surprised by the Big Party! That there have been and will be others!

PS And, in short, on the case of Vacanța Mare specifically:

• Humor may be more successful or tasteless. And bad taste is not penalized.
• Satire, finer or more brutal, is in our DNA, from Constantin Tănase to Divertis or Vacanța Mare. Obviously, it cannot satisfy all tastes. I don’t think the CNA can fine anything. Until now, fines in the area of ​​humor were not for bad taste, but for the protection of minors (language or scenes at inappropriate times). If you enter the content, censorship.
• What can be blamed on TVR is related to what we asked, among others: how the people of Vacanța Mare were chosen, by what criteria, did they know what topics would be addressed, what guests they would be (Dan Bittman was at heart at night , a few weeks after his controversial statements), how it reached 50,000 euros, why the head of TVR did not consult with the board of directors and why they did not supervise the production in some way.
• We are left with the irony: televisions give the Government’s pro-vaccine ad for free, but the Government itself pays for a television – TVR, for jokes with the smell of COVID.

The president of the Culture Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, Iulian Bulai, announced that on Tuesday, January 5, the president of the CNA, Monica Gubernat, will be summoned to Parliament, after “for our money, TVR 1 had a New Year’s Eve program the direction of everything that means a pandemic ”. In the night between years, starting at 23:00, TVR had a program “New Years Eve at my house” with Mugur Mihăescu and Radu Pietreanu. Also on the show were Dan Bittman, but also actor George Tănase. His show lasted almost two hours.
