It has not even settled in front of Viitorului Constanţa, that Mircea Rednic (54 years old) is thinking of leaving the “ship”, according to the Belgian press.

According to the Belgians of Mircea Rednic’s CV reached the offices of the Standard Liege leaders, and not by chance, although he is still the coach of the Viitorul Constanţa.

Standard Liege would announce Senegalese Mbaye Leye as head coach, but the surprises came at the end of the negotiations between the two sides, and the former Belgian champion secured a reserve option.

Mircea Rednic coached at Standard Liege in the 2012/2013 season, for 31 matches, and that year Standard Liege finished in fourth place, qualifying for the Europa League preliminaries. He was appreciated for his work that season, and the Belgian leaders are thinking of him again.

Furthermore, Mircea Rednic also trained in Belgium at KAA Gent, in the 2013/2014 season, but also at Mouscron, between December 2016 and February 2018. He also played in the Belgian championship between 1991 and 1997: the first five years at Standard Liège, and the last in Saint-Truidense.

Mircea Rednic: “I would fulfill a dream”

When asked by Belgian journalists if he wishes to return to Standard Liege, Mircea Rednic replied briefly: “I would fulfill a dreamSign that the Romanian coach will not reject the Belgians’ offer, if negotiations with Mbaye Leye fail. After all, his CV did not land in the Liège offices out of nowhere.

Mircea Rednic was announced as Viitorul Constanţa’s new manager at the beginning of December, after Gheorghe Hagi broke off collaboration with Spaniard Rubén de la Barrera. From that moment on, Rednic scored three matches in League 1, in which he won just one point, after a draw in Chindia (1-1) and two losses, with Gaz Metan (0-1) and FC Botoşani ( 1-2).

Despite these results, Rednic always sent arrows to the former Futuro coach, citing the precarious physical form of the players, as the main reason why his team does not earn points. We don’t know what Viitorul owner Gheorghe Hagi thought of Rednic’s arguments, but the collaboration may end abruptly, practically, before it actually begins.
