The Ministry of National Defense will participate in the vaccination campaign of the population against Covid-19 and will ensure the safety and optimal storage of vaccine doses, as soon as they arrive in Romania. According to the Ministry of National Defense, storage centers have already been designated, both in Bucharest and in the country.
A statement sent by the Press Office of the Ministry of National Defense indicates that after the meeting on Monday, November 23, held in the Cotroceni Palace and chaired by the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, it was established that the Ministry of National Defense has a very important role in supporting the inter-institutional effort in the anti-COVID-19 vaccination campaign. Thus, the Ministry of National Defense will have “responsibilities to ensure, through specialized structures, the logistics necessary for the development of this campaign at the national level.”

According to the cited source, they were identified storage centers under special conditions of vaccine doses requiring storage conditions at -80 ° C, the main center is the National Institute for Medical-Military Research and Development “Cantacuzino”, and six military emergency hospitals (from Timisoara, Craiova, Brasov, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi and Constanta) have been designated as regional storage centers.

According to the authorities, the anti-Covid vaccine could arrive in Romania by the end of the year, depending on when it will be approved by the European Medicines Agency.
