Violeta Alexandru spoke to Digi24 about the extension of technical unemployment after the expiration of the state of emergency. The Minister of Labor says that, in the first instance, it will run until June 1, after that date there will be an extension only for some areas of activity. Furthermore, Minister Alexandru sends a message to those who did not receive the employer’s money: “If there are employees who did not receive technical unemployment in March, it is urgent to file a complaint with the Labor Inspectorate.”
Violet Alexandru: Technical unemployment will certainly continue. In the first instance, it will run until June 1 for all areas covered now, and from June 1 for just a few. The law voted in Parliament is also important, but also the option that the Government has based on epidemiological studies to channel this measure, which is still passive. It means that the person stays at home, it does not work.
The rest of the economy will receive active support to resume its activity through a package of active measures, that is, measures to support the return to activity, within a period of 3 months in a fixed amount. We are thinking of covering part of the salary cost, between 35% and 45%. After 3 months, the amount will decrease as companies re-operate.
Most employers are in good faith, but there are also problems. I have information that there are delays in paying employers by employees. We paid for March a long time ago.
We send the money for two weeks and the employer is required to pay technical unemployment in 3 days. We are now making payments for April.
I mean, most employers transferred the money, I got messages from people. But there are also signs of people telling me that they did not receive the money, the unemployment funds for March, and this is very serious.
All those facing this problem should urgently report to the territorial labor inspectorates in the county where the company operates.
