Two policemen were seriously injured Friday after their service vehicle collided with an ambulance. in DN 64 Caracal-Găneasa.
Both crews had intervened in the same case, seizing a person with violent behavior, also injured in the accident. The nurse and the ambulance driver were also injured.
“In DN 64 Caracal-Găneasa, within the commune of Şopârliţa, Olt county, there was a head-on collision between a police team and an ambulance, both trucks on mission,” announces the INFOTRAFIC Center of the General Inspection of the Police of Romania, according to News.ro.
Following the collision, both policemen in the truck were seriously injured and the ambulance nurse was slightly injured, all of whom were medically evaluated on the spot.
According to LEI Olt, both crews intervened in the same case, that is, taking a person with violent behavior and transporting him to a medical unit. In addition to the two policemen, the nurse, the ambulance driver and the patient who had been transferred were also injured.
“Following a call through SNUAU 112, police officers from Bobiceşti Rural Police Station, together with a team from the Olt County Ambulance Service, intervened to transfer a person whose behavior was deviant to a medical unit. The violent man was transported by ambulance, and the police team accompanied the transport, according to protocol, with the light signals in operation ”, is shown in the LEI Olt statement.
The cited source mentions that at a certain point the patient became violent, the ambulance driver suddenly stopped, at which point the police squad collided with him, the event occurred at the bottom of a slightly wet road.
Road traffic was stopped to allow specialized crews to intervene.
