Prime Minister Florin Cîţu declared on Monday, after the government meeting, that the state budget for 2021 will be based on a budget deficit “around 7% of GDP”, which, in his opinion, will not slow down the Romanian economy.

“We need to clarify, for next year’s budget, what measures remain and how they will be extended. I have to tell you that for next year’s budget we are sticking to what we have said so far: supporters of fiscal consolidation, which means that we are going to build a budget with which we will arrive at the Romanian Parliament with a budget deficit of around 7% of GDP, which shows on the one hand our firm commitment to fiscal consolidation, at the same time it is a budget deficit that in the current economic context it does not slow down the economy ”. – announced Prime Minister Cîțu.

The Government met on Monday at 5 in the afternoon. According to a government statement, the main topic was the draft emergency ordinance on the establishment of measures at the level of the central public administration.

The Government meeting was held online and, according to a statement, a draft GEO is being considered, which includes decisions that will allow the compliance, in the shortest time, in the new structure, of the activity of the Government and the ministries.

The project is promoted as a result of Parliament Decision n. 31/2020 for the granting of the Government’s trust, published in the Official Gazette.
