DIICOT prosecutors and drug police succeeded, after an 18-record “marathon” in the county, dismantling a drug trafficking ring.

Searches were also carried out at the house, disco, club and swimming pool owned by the family of a well-known Iasi county priest: Nicolae Zugravu, pastor of the “Sfanta Parascheva” church in Targu Frumos. Your son is an important member of the dismantled network of traffickers.

Law enforcement officers found two greenhouses full of drugs: in the town of Feredeni in the commune of Deleni and in the municipality of Harlau. They belonged to an organized group of drug traffickers who sold large quantities in the cities of Harlau, Targu Frumos and Iasi, being “functional” since 2018.

Law enforcement officers carried dozens of bags of drugs overnight from locations in Iasi county, 40 bags from just one of them, in the village of Feredeni – Deleni. In these places, the network, functional for years, had huge cannabis plantations.

“Prosecutors from the Directorate of Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism – Territorial Service of Iasi together with agents of the judicial police of BCCO Iasi and SCCO Vaslui carried out a series of 18 house searches in the territorial area of ​​Iasi county , in the homes of persons suspected of committing crimes of high-risk drug trafficking, high-risk drug trafficking, possession, without rights, of high-risk drugs for personal consumption ”, is shown in a DIICOT statement.

After the searches, the investigators seized more than 200 kilograms of cannabis plants, cocaine, ecstasy, tens of thousands of euros, as well as scales and other objects used in the distribution and sale of drugs.


“There is reasonable suspicion that the suspects grew several cannabis crops, which were subsequently commissioned, to obtain significant quantities of cannabis for wholesale. Repeatedly and on the basis of the same criminal ruling, the suspects bought significant quantities of high-risk drugs (mdma-ecstasy, mdma-powder), which they subsequently sold to young people in Iasi and Harlau. “During home searches, two indoor and outdoor cannabis crops were identified, as well as high-risk drugs,” DIICOT said.

In Targu Frumos, another important member of the network, Iulius Zugravu, son of the well-known parish priest Nicolae Zugravu, from the church “Sfanta Parascheva” in Targu Frumos, a small amount of cannabis was found, but the police collected important items from his home. Means of evidence certifying the suspicions of prosecutors that he was involved in drug trafficking within the city of Targu Frumos, writes the local publication Ziarul de Iasi.

According to the cited source, his brother, Livius Zugravu, had the same problems with the law, with drugs, a few years ago, the two owners of the most famous nightclub in the city. He died in 2016 after a car accident.

The police searched the home of the deceased’s wife, the pool, the disco, the children’s club and the party room of the priest’s family, but no drugs were found. These places, the police believe, were used as a screen for drug distribution.
