Sunday, January 24, 2021 marks the 162nd anniversary of the Union of Romanian principalities (January 24, 1859), an essential moment in the history of the Romanian people, a historical ideal crowned in Bucharest by the Electoral Assembly of Muntenia by electing the Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza of Moldavia and as Prince of Wallachia in a building of the Romanian Orthodox Church on Metropolitan Hill, on the site of which today stands the Palace of the Patriarchate.

After the TE DEUM service, a wreath will be placed on the statue of Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza near the Patriarchal Cathedral.

Furthermore, on January 24, 2021, the hierarchs, priests and deacons of the Romanian Orthodox Church will officiate the TE DEUM service in all the churches of the Romanian Patriarchate, as well as the commemoration of those who contributed to the Union of Romanian Principalities with great courage and patriotic wisdom.
