One of the two policemen injured on the first day of the year, in the ambulance accident in Olt, died. Law enforcement officers were on a mission and accompanied a rescuer carrying a patient who was behaving violently. The man was 50 years old and had been a police officer at Morunglav Police Station for a decade.

The violent man was transported by ambulance, and the police crew accompanied the transport, with the traffic lights in operation.

When the patient became violent, the ambulance driver came to a sudden stop, at which point the police crew collided head-on with him.
