Romanian police purchase a facial recognition system under a contract worth 4,779,000 lei, which includes facial identification software, servers, licenses and storage solutions, as well as training for more than 200 people.
The main place of execution is the IGPR headquarters.

According to data published in SEAP, the contract was awarded through a tender to Dataware Consulting.
The “Face Recognition IT Solution” will provide search / verification / comparison capabilities of digital facial images from the database associated with those from various sources, such as mobile phones, surveillance cameras, social media, ATM cameras, displays in the specification.
The project will lead to better data collection in “criminal intelligence and investigation activities and the expansion of cooperation and actions to prevent and combat forms of serious crime and terrorism.”
