Academician Ion Petrescu, general of the Army, university professor and honorary citizen of the Brașov municipality has died, announces the Brașov City Council.

Ion Petrescu was born on February 4, 1928 in Râmnicu Sărat. At the age of 16 he enlisted in the 7th Transmission Battalion of the Army, participating in the battle of Budapest.

He graduated from the Gendarme Officers School in 1948, and was an assistant, lecturer, associate professor, and professor at institutions of higher education in the Ministry of the Interior.

After a conflict with Nicolae Ceaușescu, he was transferred to the reserve. In 1972 he received the title of Doctor of Economics and in 1976 the title of Doctor of Psychological Sciences. He is the founder of the School of Management in Brașov, as well as the School of Doctorate in Management of the “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu.
