“Taking into account the permanent concern of the MIA leadership to achieve the objectives related to the safety of students and teachers, Minister Vela decided to establish a separate structure within the Romanian police that will strengthen the MIA partnership – the school – local authorities to develop an educational process against crime and against victims.

Thus, there will be a much greater and more active presence of police in the school environment, respectively, in the educational process. They will identify the propitious environments for the commission of crimes and will establish permanent links with the representatives of the educational units, with the representatives of the NGOs and the local authorities.

The newly formed structure, the “School Safety Police” will give more importance to preventive activities and measures, focusing on identifying the generating factors and eliminating the early risks of potential risks, mainly for the prevention of drug use, trafficking in people and youth violence. . The structure will function at the beginning of the school year both at the level of the Romanian Police Inspectorate General and at the level of the County Police Inspectorates, respectively at the level of the Bucharest Police General Directorate, “said the Secretary of State for the Ministry of the Interior, Bogdan Despescu.
