Ludovic Orban was elected president of the Chamber of Deputies, in a meeting that lasted until late at night. The PNL president defeated the PSD candidate, Alfred Simonis, to vote. The meeting was a scandal, after the senior dean of AUR, deputy Lucian Feodorov, who led the plenary session, did not want to continue the meeting in which the president of the Chamber was to be elected. Finally, the plenary session was chaired by Ibrahim Hussein, Member of the Parliament for National Minorities.
UPDATE 2:20 Ludovic Orban is the new president of the Chamber of Deputies. He got 179 votes, while his opponent, Alfred Simonis, supported by PSD, got 110 votes.
The deputies also elected the new Permanent Office of the Chamber of Deputies.

UPDATE 1:00 The plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies resumed. The parliamentarians will vote for the leadership of the forum, headed by the president, a position for which Ludovic Orban of the PNL-USR PLUS-UDMR coalition and Alfred Simonis of the PSD are running.
The President of the Chamber of Deputies is elected by secret ballot, with the vote of the majority of the deputies present. It is the first test of the PNL-USR PLUS-UDMR coalition in the Chamber of Deputies, after previously Anca Dragu of USR PLUS was voted president of the Senate.
The meeting is chaired by Ibrahim Hussein, a deputy from the national minority, after the senior deans of AUR refused to lead the plenary.
The initial news
The PNL, USR PLUS and UDMR MPs were ready to vote for Ludovic Orban as president of the Chamber of Deputies, as decided by the coalition protocol signed by the leaders of the four parties.
The session was closed by Lucian Feodorov (AUR), Senior Dean, and the AUR deputies left the plenary hall immediately after being sworn in.
The senior dean said he was tired and the meeting should continue on Tuesday.

The following senior deans, from AUR and PSD, refused to chair the plenary session, which was eventually chaired by Ibrahim Hussein, a deputy from the national minority.
According to the regulations, the first session of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate is chaired by the senior dean, assisted by the four youngest deputies.
Ludovic Orban from the PNL coalition, USR PLUS, UDMR and Alfred Simonis, from PSD, are running for the position of president of the Chamber of Deputies.
The meeting will resume tonight. The leaders of the PNL-USR PLUS-UDMR coalition want the addresses of the two houses of Parliament to be established as soon as possible, to continue the investment process of the Government of Cîțu.
The Senate has already voted for the appointment of the president, in this position Anca Dragu, from USR PLUS, was validated.
