The Interior Ministry states that Laurențiu Cazan, coordinator of the gendarme intervention at the August 10 rally, was appointed to lead the Prahova County Gendarme Inspectorate “to ensure the continuity of leadership of this unit.”
“The decision was made to ensure the continuity of the management of this unit, as a consequence of the transfer of the former commander to the reserve, based on art. 85, paragraph 1, letter b of Law No. 80/1995 on the situation of military personnel ”, shows the MIA statement.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, Lieutenant Colonel Laurenţiu Cazan was assigned to IJJ Prahova and released for a period of 6 months in a post equivalent to that he held in the Bucharest Gendarmerie.
The order of the Inspector General of the Romanian Gendarmerie regarding this power was signed on 12/21/2020, the Interior Ministry also highlights.
Laurenţiu Cazan, former general director of the General Directorate of Gendarmerie in Bucharest, is one of the heads of the Gendarmerie accused of organizing the repression of the demonstration of August 10, 2018.
