A former Manchester City star doesn’t think Sebastian Coltescu’s gesture can be accused of racism.
Micah Richards (32), raised by Manchester City, commented on the scandal of the moment in world football.
Richards has more than 200 Premier League appearances for City and Aston Villa and, from his point of view, Sebastian Coltescu’s gesture cannot necessarily be condemned for racism.
Present in the American television studio CBS, Richards says that if they had made him ‘black’ he would not have been offended in any way:
“It’s hard to be the devil’s advocate, but if we’re all in one room, like we are now, and someone says, ‘black person or black person,’ I wouldn’t be offended by that. So without knowing the context in which it was used the word is easy to interpret both ways, from the evidence I saw there, it is very difficult for me to accuse the fourth official because I do not know the context in which it was used.
