Klaus Iohannis said Tuesday that closing markets in corridors or covered areas is a “fair” measure taken by the government. The president accused the PSD in this regard, because he proposed to open the markets for political reasons.
“The issue of markets is one that has generated a lot of debate in the public space. I believe that the measure that the Government has taken is fair. This measure was only taken for a few weeks. However, the fact that the Government decides something and the majority of the PSD in Parliament, without documentation, only for political reasons, decide otherwise is another argument why we have to make elections on time, “said Klaus Iohannis, at a liberation conference at the Cotroceni Palace.
The president pointed out that only markets that operate in closed spaces are closed, where protection measures cannot be guaranteed for sellers and customers.
When asked if he would enact the law to keep markets open, Klaus Iohannis avoided a clear answer.
The Chamber of Deputies decided this Tuesday, as a legislative decision-making forum, that, during the alert state, the closed agri-food markets, fairs, fairs, mixed markets and flyers, the markets may continue their activity, in compliance with the measures of health protection.
The amendment was adopted by 173 votes to one and 93 abstentions.
