The coordinator of the vaccination campaign in Romania, the military doctor Valeriu Gheroghita, declared on Tuesday, January 26, that, as of January 28, part of the appointments, for the first dose, of people in the category of essential staff. for ten days.

According to the official, people who attend essential areas and who are not over 65 years old or do not suffer from chronic diseases will be rescheduled.

Specifically, people scheduled to receive the first dose of Covid vaccine between January 28 and February 11, who are not part of the exempted categories mentioned above, will be postponed 10 days.

The measure was taken so as not to affect the booster dose and vaccination of vulnerable people, the chronically ill and people over 65. Those rescheduled will be announced by email and SMS, according to Dr. Valeriu Gheorghita. The reprogramming will be carried out in the vaccination centers themselves.

Our solution to continue the campaign, without affecting the booster dose, without affecting the vaccination of those who are in the second stage of vaccination, is that as of January 28, all people who carry out essential activities are rescheduled for 10 days, for dose one. Vaccination dose rate one for the rest of the people.

Problems with the administration of doses of anti-Covid vaccine

The booster dose is given to people who have already been vaccinated so far, that is, more than 441,000 people. The difficult period for us is until February 15th. It is a moment that we want to overcome together. We need patience. It is a situation that has appeared in several European countries, resolved with different solutions ”, Gheorghita specified.

People 65 and older and those with chronic diseases will receive the vaccine on the scheduled date, even if they are scheduled to be vaccinated after January 28. People in the category of those who attend essential activities will receive an email and an SMS message, informing them about the postponement of the vaccination date.

Valeriu Gheorghita also said that in the second stage of the vaccination campaign, 32.3% of those vaccinated so far are basic personnel, and the rest are people with chronic diseases and people over 65 years of age.

“As for the second quarter, we don’t yet have a delivery schedule for Pfizer or Moderna.

We maintain the same goal as in the first quarter, until the end of March, of reaching 1.2 million vaccinated people.

We don’t have a delivery schedule for the second quarter, “Valeriu Gheorghita also said.
