Alexandru Rafila, who heads the PSD list in Bucharest for the parliamentary elections to the Chamber of Deputies, considers that Daniel Ghiță, a colleague of the party and a supporter of not wearing a mask, is “a man of good faith”. The director of the Society for Microbiology does not question the scientific truth and affirms that “the expression of confidence or distrust in the existence of the coronavirus does not have political connotations.”

“I do not have the coordinates of Mr. Ghita, but I will definitely have the opportunity in the next period to be able to speak. I am convinced that he is a man of good faith. Good faith must be correlated with acceptance of the rules of a game and whether we like it or not, if we believe or believe less in the matter of this infection with the new coronavirus I am finally convinced that Mr. Ghita will comply with the legal provisions regarding the use of masks and this will protect him and his relatives ”Said Alexandru Rafila, Wednesday night, on Digi24.

He said the scientific truth about the new coronavirus infection was not up for debate.

“One is freedom of expression and another is the way you behave. Mr. Ghita expresses, we must respect him, because we have no reason not to respect him, to listen to him, it is part of a democratic mechanism. If you express this opinion, but out of respect for the law, wear a mask, I don’t think there is any problem, “he added.

When asked why he joined a party that welcomes people who are against the mask, Rafila said:

“I don’t know if that is why people have a political option, for example, the left. Lately, the attempt to demonize the left movement in Romania, because, like it or not, it is represented by the PSD, is not good for democracy in the first place, nor for the political game. Let’s say that the PSD would not exist and there would have been no leftist alternative in Romania. Do you think that was good for democracy? Personally, I don’t think so. “

Asked if those who do not believe in the existence of the coronavirus, who advocate not wearing a mask, should be represented in Parliament, the professor said: “The political choice is one, the expression of trust or distrust in the existence of the coronavirus is not I think it has a political connotation. You could search and find examples from other areas of EU policy of people on the right who have similar views. If we try to link a political option to a public health issue and we try to gather followers of those who have doubts about the existence of a coronavirus or pandemic, it does not seem appropriate “.

Romania’s representative to the WHO also explained the reason why it entered politics.

“The reason I joined this party is that I follow the truth, professional and ethical principles. If we accept this, we will succeed in changing the political class and the perception of politics.

The most common accusation I received after announcing my political election was that I went to Parliament to get it, to represent my personal interests or for a few people who have a certain goal. This is generated by what happened in the last 30 years, when many of the people who entered politics entered precisely for this reason.

You and the general public should give us the opportunity to show that this is not the case and that we can have at least a slightly more favorable opinion for those who come to Parliament, ”said Alexandru Rafila.

PSD president Marcel Ciolacu declared on Monday that Parliament must represent everyone, and fighter Daniel Ghiţă has the right to speak.
