How to know if you already benefit from a competitive electricity supply. How many households have chosen it so far

[ad_1]

The competitive offer in the energy market is already applied to some of the consumers who have renewed their supply contracts this year. Here’s how a consumer can find out if they already benefit from a competitive offer.

To find out if you already have a contract in the competitive market, look at your invoice! If he writes “Competitive market invoice” (in the case of the Enel invoice, write at the top left), then the market liberalization on January 1, 2021 has no impact on the contractual relationship with the supplier.

If “Competitive Market Invoice” is not mentioned, it means that you have a contract in the regulated market. You can choose to stay with the current contract, at a universal service price, or enter into a contract in the free market, at a competitive price, under more advantageous conditions.

At the end of January, for any offer selected in the competitive market, you will benefit from the price applied from 01.01.2021, regardless of the time you choose to change the contract during that month.

About two million consumers is currently in the competitive market, according to data from ANRE. The remaining six million (the figures do not refer to people, but to households in which several people live, no) will be transferred to universal service, if they do not opt for a competitive offer.

The competitive market works from January 1

Household electricity consumers have the opportunity to change their energy supplier for free under the conditions of the transition from January 1, 2021 at competitive prices.

As of January 1, the electricity market will be liberalized and the authorities will stop regulating prices as before, but will be set freely by suppliers, based on an offer. The automatic extension of the current contract, on regulated rates, can mean higher bills in some situations, even by 25%.

But this only if you choose to stick with the current offering, with prices regulated by the state. You can choose the most advantageous offer from multiple providers, or you can stay with the current provider, but you must request a competitive offer.

HERE you can consult the bid calculator for the energy providers offered by ANRE.
