The first vice president of the PNL, Rareș Bogdan, criticized the leader of the Liberals, Ludovic Orban, saying that he led the party alone, without him and other leaders of the territory having “any real power within the government.” The MEP says he regrets that, after losing the parliamentary elections, he has not demanded Orban’s resignation from the party leadership. Furthermore, Rareș Bogdan says that “we have to reconfigure ourselves based on the reformist people we have, with a good image, supporting Florin Cîțu.”
“The party was led by a man, Ludovic Orban. We had neither I, nor Robert Sighiartău, nor Iulian Dumitrescu, nor Mircea Hava, nor Raluca Turcan, Florin Roman, Ilie Bolojan, Gheorghe Flutur, Emil Boc, we had no power real within the government.
(…)
With the exception of one man, all the prime ministers who arrived at Victoria Palace were stunned. They came out of there with their heads swollen.
(…)
Ludovic Orban sadly, instead of going in there and still being the man he was, his head swelled in turn. He imagined himself to be the alpha dog, the alpha wolf, the man without whom Romania would not go on, he knows them all.
Get along. He’s not a bad man. He is a prime minister who did well in a terrible time for Romania. I challenge him for the way he led and the way he was discretionary in his decisions. He did not consult the party when he spoke of a minister. He came up with a list that he put to a vote.
I regret that the next morning, after the parliamentary elections, I did not go out with Robert Sighiartău, Florin and the others to demand the resignation of the PNL president because it led the party to lose the elections.
He didn’t have to resign as prime minister, he had to resign as party chairman.
He is the first party president in the last 30 years, who lost the elections and remained in office, which is abnormal. And we could give up as an example to force him too. We did not do this in order not to destabilize the party before the coalition formation negotiations.

If we are not aware that the NLP situation is one that can lead to destruction, to the fall of this party, below 15-10%, and if we do not understand that we must reconfigure ourselves based on the reformist people we have, with a good image, supporting him in Florin Cîțu …
(…)
We have to get behind Florin Cîțu. Whether some want it or not, Florin Cîțu is a liberal, reformist, Florin Cîțu must have the full support of the NLP because it is our only chance to show that we want to do something with this country, otherwise the population will sanction us ” , one stated Raredan Bogdan, in an interview for Aleph News.
He said that after negotiations with the ruling coalition partners USR-PLUS and UDMR, where the Liberals ceded several important ministries, he met with Ludovic Orban at Villa Lac 1, where he proposed to convene the party leadership.
“I said, ‘There’s a lot of nervousness at the party.’ It was me, Sighiartău, Bușoi, Iulian Dumitrescu, Cîțu. «Ludovic, let’s do an evening BPN, to explain that the nervousness is enormous. (…) Everyone in the country is screaming. Let’s explain what happened. Rejected BPN. I said let’s do it.
(…)
I turned off the BPN. But tensions persisted. The party is in a powder keg, “he said.
