Members of the Education Union Federation (ESF) “SPIRU HARET” have asked the union leadership to initiate steps to organize protests, if the Government does not decide, until the approval of the Budget Law for 2021, to increase education, according to an ESF “SPIRU HARET” statement issued on Saturday announces AGERPRES.

“On this occasion, I convey to the members of the Romanian Government and Parliament that they have time until the approval of the Budget Law to carry out analyzes, studies, audits in the system. , the trade unionists asked us to initiate the procedures to initiate the protest actions ”, is mentioned in the statement signed by the president of the ESF” SPIRU HARET “, Marius Nistor.

Thus, the trade union organization asks the government to reevaluate the decision to “freeze” wages in the educational system and to make a correct analysis of the situation of income from education, according to the statement.

The ESF “SPIRU HARET” notes that in Romania teachers earn on average up to one third less than employees with higher education in the private sector.

The president of the union, Marius Nistor, pointed out that in some public institutions guards or drivers have higher salaries than teachers.

Although studies and analysis show us that we are in the lowest salary bracket, that in some institutions in Romania there are guards and drivers who receive higher salaries than that of a teacher, we, the employees of the educational system, are also “No member of the political class wants to do a real analysis of the income of teachers compared to those of other socio-professional categories, “said Marius Nistor.

The union leader mentioned that teachers did not receive any support to continue teaching online.

“All of this is happening under conditions in which, since the start of this pandemic, employees of the system have been thrown into the unknown, without training and without what is necessary to continue their activity online. We are presented with success stories of multinational companies, where the employees went to work, but no one shows that those employees received laptops to work from home, they were trained in an emergency, in fact, they received all the support What did the employees of the system receive? educational? Nothing! in contact with students, whenever possible, because even now many children are deprived of the right to education because they do not have the necessary means to participate in these activities “, concluded the president of the ESF” SPIRU HARET “.

The union organization states that as of September 1, 2020, according to GEO 114/2018, teachers should have received a salary increase to reach the level established by the Salary Law n. 153/2017, an increase that was postponed by the Orban Government to September 1, 2021.

Likewise, by the State Budget Law, in 2021, all employees in the budget sector should have benefited from a salary increase of 25% of the difference between the base salary provided for by Law No. 153/2017 for the year 2022 and December 2018, it is specified in the ESF statement “SPIRU HARET”.

The Education Union Federation “SPIRU HARET” considers that these increases are mandatory, since in education other bonuses are not granted for dangerous working conditions as in other areas, and those granted are blocked in 2016, although the law stipulates that they must be calculated on wages paid, according to the union statement.
