The rise in hopes of a EURO spot is due not only to the result and the “little tricolor” game, but also to what happened in Denmark. The Nordic team, leader of the group, with 15 points in the first five games, ended in a draw with Ukraine, a result obtained by the Danes in the last phase.

Adrian Mutu, perfect start in Romania U21

Due to the two results on Friday, Romania U-21s got three points closer to leaders Denmark, against whom they will play even in the last stage of the preliminaries, in mid-November.

Romania can still hope to qualify for the EURO if it does not win the group. In the finals Hungary and Slovenia will get direct access and the best five second places.

For the moment, Romania is in third place in a ranking of the teams that occupy the second positions of their groups, three points from sixth place, the first below the line, occupied by Belgium, which has, however, a less disputed match.

Following the victory in Finland, for the Adrian Mutu team, the following program follows this fall in the EURO U21 preliminaries:

  • September 8: Malta U21 – Romania U21
  • October 9: Ukraine U21 – Romania U21
  • October 13: Romania U21 – Malta U21
  • November 17: Romania U21 – Denmark U21
