Gasoline and diesel will become more expensive at the pump by 6 bani per liter from Friday, January 1, 2021 at 0:00, as a result of the increases in excise duties operated according to the Fiscal Code.

Thus, as of January 1, 2021, the special tax on unleaded gasoline has a value of 1,827.13 lei per thousand liters, going from 1,773.46 per thousand liters, according to the Ministry of Finance.

Likewise, for diesel, the special tax increases to 1,674.55 / thousand liters, from 1,625.37 lei per thousand liters.

These increases will cause an increase of 6 bani, on average, for the price of gasoline and diesel at gas stations, since taxes (excise and VAT) represent approximately half of the final price of these products, according to calculations by oil companies, writes Agerpres.

According to the platform peco-online.ro, on December 31, the lowest price of standard gasoline (95) is at a station in Galati: 4.51 lei per liter. The cheapest standard diesel is also found in Galați: 4.45 lei / liter.

In the main cities of the country, standard gasoline is priced at about 4.66 lei / liter, and standard diesel costs about 4.7 lei / liter, peco-online.ro also shows.

The most important gas station chains on the Romanian market are OMV Petrom, Rompetrol, Lukoil, Mol, Socar and Gazprom.
