We have long warned that, in both variants, the final price of electricity will be higher as of January 1, for several reasons. The current prices for the purchase of energy in the market, for consumption next year, are higher than those regulated by the state (the latter are of the type of production cost plus regulated profit of 5%) and at which energy is purchased in the market in half. year. On the other hand, we are facing an increase in the regulated tariffs for the transmission and distribution of electricity, as of January 1.

For the Banat area (counties of Timiș, Arad, Caraș-Severin, Hubedoara) the price of the universal service applied from January 1 will be 0.56 lei / kWh, excluding VAT, green certificates, contribution to cogeneration and special taxes. For the Muntenia area (Bucharest, Ilfov and Giurgiu counties), the price of the universal service applied from January 1 will be 0.528 lei / kWh, excluding VAT, green certificates, cogeneration contribution and special tax. The current regulated price is 0.407 lei, so we have an increase of about 12 bani / kWh, that is, about 29%, without the impact of the previous taxes. With VAT, the increase is about 14.2 bani, but, if we take into account the impact of the reduction of the cogeneration tax (minus 1.7 bani / kWh), as of January 1, the rest of customers of Enel still regulated in the Muntenia area will pay 12 / kWh extra.
How can you avoid this price?
Those who do not want to pay these prices have the option of changing providers, or, if they want to continue being Enel customers, they can opt for a competitive offer from this provider, because there are also offers with lower prices. Another important detail: if a customer makes this choice in January, at any time until the end of the month, they will pay the consumption bill for the entire month of January with the price of the newly chosen offer.
