Dragoș Benea MEP told on his Facebook page how he was the victim of an accident that could have cost him his life while riding a bicycle. He claims that a driver cut him off without making sure of himself and, to avoid the impact, got into a parked car. The politician hurt his head.
Dragoş Benea is a member of the European Parliament and president of the PSD Bacău branch. He also posted some images on the social network, along with how the incident unfolded.
“I was unlucky and I was lucky in the same split second! Ladies and gentlemen, please respect the cyclists because they are not alone on the streets. This morning, around 10.50, while I was cycling in the commune of Gârleni (town Lespezi), I was the victim of a traffic accident caused by a reckless driver, who cut me off without making sure of in any way. To avoid a collision with potentially harmful consequences, I cleared the right instantly, colliding with a regularly parked car. On impact, the rear window wiper caused a cut on my left arch. I specify that I was running properly equipped, with a helmet and suitable reflective equipment, “said Dragoş Benea.
He said he called 112 and announced the incident.
