According to Music Fanpage, which cites the TMZ website, the DJ died at just 49 years old in unclear circumstances.

His body was found in Miami Beach by police, who went to his home after being called.

His death comes just weeks after his arrest in Miami on suspicion of sexual assault, Mediafax writes.

An international house music star, Morillo produced his biggest hit in the 1990s with the electro-dance song “I Like to Move It,” which he released under the stage name Reel 2 Real. He has won the best DJ award three times at the DJ Awards and has been proclaimed the best international DJ on several occasions.

The news of his death comes about a month after Morillo was arrested in Miami on charges of sexual assault, for an episode dating back to December 2019. The alleged victim claimed that he went home at the DJ, resisted the advances and he went to sleep in another room, but found himself “naked in bed, with Morillo on the edge of the bed, also empty.”

Initially, the DJ denied the allegations, but after a DNA test it was left to his lawyer.
