An African Express plane loaded with medical aid was shot down over Somalia. The Ethiopian army is suspected of firing on him.

A Kenyan African Express Airways plane with six people on board was shot down over Somalia. It was loaded with medical help, says Al Jazeera, quoted by Mediafax.

According to the cited source, Ethiopian troops launched a rocket on the plane near the city of Bardale, because the pilot was thought to have intended to provoke a terrorist attack.

The Ethiopian army noted that it had not been informed of the flight.

“Due to the lack of communication, the plane was shot down,” said the Ethiopian army.

There were four Kenyans and two Somalis on board.

Kenyan authorities say they are shocked by this particularly serious incident, marked by the attack on an airplane on a humanitarian mission.

Soldiers from Ethiopia and Kenya were sent on missions to Somalia as part of a terrorist campaign against the Shabab and peacekeeping.
