On Wednesday, USR-PLUS co-president, Dacian Ciolo transmit, conveyed on Facebook that, like much of civil society and like many of his colleagues, he is “discontented” by the presence of Sorin Cîmpeanu in the Government. He says that the way in which Sorin Cîmpeanu has acted politically and professionally in recent years is far from what should be a dignified political path and a reference for education in Romania.

The message published on Facebook by Dacian Cioloș, before the inauguration of the PNL Government – USR-PLUS – UDMR:

  • “They asked me for explanations and I think that in the new configuration in which USR-PLUS has the responsibility to govern, we need to speak openly and transparently about issues or things that we want to do or take on together with the coalition partners, but also about things that we’re not comfortable with, that’s what I promised, that’s what I do.
  • Like much of civil society, personally, I am unhappy with the presence of Sorin Cîmpeanu in the Government and, as with many of my colleagues. I have known him for a long time, but the way he has acted politically and professionally in recent years is far from what I think should be a worthy political track and a reference for education in Romania.
  • Unfortunately, we were able to act in the government structure only in proportion to the votes received. We had no control over the minister appointments of the partners, just as the partners did not have those of USR-PLUS.
  • At the same time, I know he’s right to be unhappy and mention us. We are responsible for what the government of which we are part decides and we will ensure that the government program is implemented. And we will not accept slips of the program, of the commitments made together, especially in Education, a key area on which the future of all depends.
  • We will continue to be receptive to all those with good ideas and experiences in the field of education and we will use all the levers that we will have in government and parliament to capitalize on the decisions that we will be part of. “
