Valeriu Gheorghiță, chairman of the National Committee for the Coordination of Activities Related to Vaccination Against SARS-CoV-2 (CNCAV), made an important announcement on Sunday evening.
The president of the CNCAV, Valeriu Gheorghiță, announced that on Monday, March 8, a decision will be made on the elimination of the age limit for the AstraZeneca vaccine. AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 Serum is currently administered to people up to 55 years of age.
Basically, as of tomorrow, there may be no age limit for AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine.
“Starting tomorrow, this restriction could be lifted and appointments could be made,” Valeriu Gheorghiță said.
Valeriu Gheorghiță declared on Antena3, on this issue, that “This decision will be made on the basis of scientific data. I do not want it to be implied that we are raising this age limit because we do not yet have greater addressability for this type of vaccine, but because we have at least three important recommendations.: the WHO recommendation, data from ongoing and published scientific studies, and we also have experience in the UK of several million patients who have demonstrated the efficacy of the AstraZeneca vaccine for people over 65 ”.
“After the first dose, the hospitalization rate increased by more than 94%,” added the president of the CNCAV.
