Air quality cannot be improved by the Ministry of the Environment but by our attitude, our behavior and the way we live, Tanczos Barna, the proposed minister, said this Wednesday, at the end of the hearings in the specialized committees gathered in Parliament. of Environment, informs Agerpres.
“Administratively we have the obligation to increase the number of measurement and monitoring stations (air quality no.) And here the agencies dependent on the ministry must be much more efficient, to achieve that objective and we have no delays or risks. of infringement. However, air quality cannot be improved by the Ministry of the Environment, but by our life, which must change, by our attitude, by our behavior, by our way of life. We need to build bike lanes, use more alternative means to get from point A to point B and reduce this pressure that we also generate in the air, in the environment ”, explained Barna.
Regarding landfills, he stressed that the only solution to overcome this crisis is to support the circular economy, recycling so that there is no more pressure on landfills.
Regarding the infringement procedures initiated by the environmental side, the proposed minister pointed out that there are various methods of resolution, such as better communication with the European Commission, through administrative measures or by changing the mentality.
“There is no area where Romania today does not face this danger of infringement. Some can be solved through better communication with the European Commission, because they even concern relatively simple communication issues. Others are administrative issues, such as increasing the number of measurement and monitoring stations. The rest can only be solved through prompt state intervention. Where the deposits are not closed and we do not find solutions at the local level, at the level of the companies that own these deposits, the State must intervene. And some infractions only changing the attitude and mentality and reducing the amount of waste that our daily life generates ”, stated Tanczos Barna.
The proposed Minister of Environment, Water and Forests, Tanczos Barna, received the opinion of the mixed environmental commissions of Parliament, with 22 votes in favor.
