Border policemen from Sculeni Point, Iași County, double-hit a Romanian returning from Germany, at the wheel of a car made in 2020.

Police officers who reviewed the car’s documents found that it was listed as wanted for impoundment, an alert introduced by German authorities. In the luggage, the police also discovered a gas pistol for which the man had no source documents.

Checks revealed that the man rented the car from a German company, but the rental had expired.

At the same time, during the customs control, the man stated that he has in his daughter’s backpack a Walther gas pistol, caliber 9 mm, as well as a box with 10 rounds with an irritant charge with pepper, of the same caliber.

The man stated that he rented the car to visit his parents, and regarding the pistol and ammunition he did not know that he was obliged to declare them.

In the case, the Border Police are investigating the crimes of concealment, qualified smuggling and non-compliance with the arms and ammunition regime, and the car, valued at about 43,000 euros, was unavailable to continue with the investigations.
