While we hope to return to normal and resume our journey after the crisis, the process may take longer than you thought. It will take at least 2-3 years for Romanians to travel as before, according to Paralela 45 CEO Alin Burcea.
“In no case will we say ready, in 2020 we begin to circulate, it is around 2-3 years, until things return to normal.” No way less. Obviously we will not sell as many airline tickets or perhaps the airline tickets are sold out, but in the best case it will be half or less than half. Obviously, the world will not go abroad either, nor to Romania as it did before ”, Alin Burcea, Parallel CEO 45.
Romanian travel agencies have paid large sums for early booking vacations to members, and if tourists want to get their money back, the process will be difficult, the solution proposed by the industry is to allow people to travel and benefit from these services.
“Probably the advances that the Romanians have given through agencies to their partners are around 70-75 million euros, this is our calculation,” says the CEO.
Instead of that application launched by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, through which agencies can voluntarily declare their money transferred to partners, the tourism industry is waiting for some concrete measures.
“We are hoping to find a formula, either with state-guaranteed vouchers or with a one-time suspension of the money-back item, so that we and tourists have a year at our disposal to see what we are doing, where we are going “he added.
The agencies also want a loan from the state, as approved by the Government for the Romanian airlines, Blue Air and Tarom.
“This grant should be seen at the national level, and we think it could be carried out through the Ministry of European Funds and the National Guarantee Fund for Small and Medium Enterprises, we also have an FNGIMM tool,” says Alin Burcea.
Currently, Parallel 45 has closed 50% of its offices, and 75% of its employees are technically unemployed.
However, the government has its plans for Romanian tourism. Prime Minister Orban announced that we will be able to go up in 10 days. We can stay at the hotel, but not to mention have dinner in the city.
“If we start climbing, mountain trips, it means they can go to the mountains.” That is, there will be a relaxation in terms of moving out of the localities. Hotels will not be restricted after May 15. There will be restrictions in restaurants, cafes, bars, “said Ludovic Orban.
