“Oh my God! They reddened my phone. Never … I, since I have been in this position, have never received as many calls as I have received for the pensions of parliamentarians. Most were from NLP. During all this time (They called me – no) to attack the CCR. Those who called me were no longer parliamentarians. Instead of putting pressure on their party colleagues, they would attack me when they voted for them. At one point they told me just that: what else do you have to do? losing, revokes you anyway. That’s about the character of the people who don’t want to understand that I have no reason for unconstitutionality, “Renate Weber told TVR.
He states that the RCC has decided that only special pensions for magistrates cannot be abolished.
“I have a decision from the RCC that says very well that only one professional category, that of magistrates, has constitutional support for this type of service pension. So they started with the parliamentarians. If they want tomorrow, they can give laws for each of the other categories tomorrow, ”added Weber.
President Klaus Iohannis signed the law on Wednesday whereby parliamentarians are left without special pensions.
In accordance with the law, from the date of its entry into force, the payment of the old-age benefits granted based on the provisions of the Law of the Statute of Deputies and Senators ceases.
The statute of deputies and senators provided that parliamentarians who meet the conditions of retirement age are entitled, at the end of their term, to the old-age allowance, if they are not re-elected for a new term.
The amount of the allowance is granted in 3 installments and is calculated as the product of the number of months in office with 0.55% of the gross monthly allowance in payment. The net amount of the old-age allowance may not exceed the net income corresponding to a gross monthly allowance of a deputy or senator in office. In the case of incomplete terms, the old-age benefit will be calculated in proportion to the term actually exercised, but not less than one parliamentary term.
The Romanian state pays approximately 37 million lei for the special pensions of 870 former MPs.
