More than 100 miners from the Livezeni coal mine in the Jiu Valley refused to leave the underground on Wednesday afternoon, at the end of working hours. They are not happy that wages are being paid late.
The miners do not want to accept that the salaries are paid until February 26, as agreed on Wednesday morning at the end of another spontaneous protest, according to the special administrator of the Hunedoara Energy Complex, Cristian Roşu, reports Agerpres.
The Jiu Valley miners’ wages should have been paid on February 15, but were delayed because the company ran out of half of the funds needed to pay them.
Since January 1, CEH’s revenues decreased by 7 million lei, as the complex no longer benefits from the sums of money from the provision of system services and state aid for Mina Lonea.
“We lost the system services since December 31st. They provided us with a large part of the funds we receive, about 5 million lei per month, given that the salary fund is 12 million lei. The aid for the closure of the Lonea mine was 2 million lei. Suddenly I lost 7 million lei, out of 12 million lei, “said Roşu.
CEH is made up of the Lonea, Lupeni, Livezeni and Vulcan coal mines, together with the Paroşeni and Mintia thermal power plants, with about 4,000 employees.
