The priest who baptized the boy who later died in Suceava is suspended from service during the ongoing investigation, Romanian Patriarchate spokesman Vasile Bănescu said Tuesday.
He specified that any details related to the respective case can be requested from the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuţi, where the investigation is being carried out, reports Agerpres.

The priest who officiated the baptismal service of the child who later died was suspended from the service until the investigation in this case began, Archpriest Doru Budeanu of the Archdiocese of Suceava and Radauti by Agerpres declared Tuesday.
Budeanu said that on Wednesday there will be a meeting in the Archdiocese during which the recordings of the baptismal ritual will be seen. At the same time, the result of the autopsy is awaited, conclusions will be drawn and measures will be decided against the priest in question.
“It was suspended before we made that decision. Tomorrow (Wednesday – no) we will have a meeting and there we will discuss and see the recordings. We have already seen some of them, but we want to see them in full. (…) We are waiting for the autopsy. I assumed it was ready, but I spoke with the father of the baby and some experts from the country will come. The autopsy result lasts a little longer, ” said Budeanu.
A one-and-a-half-month-old boy died in the hospital on Monday, after a cardiorespiratory arrest on Sunday, after the baptismal ritual that took place in the church “St. Constantine and Helena” in Suceava, during which he would have been completely submerged in water.
According to Suceava County Emergency Hospital (SJU) spokesman Dan Teodorovici, the baby was found in cardiorespiratory arrest by the SMURD crew who intervened at the scene, resuscitated him and then transferred him to hospital.
