The general secretary of the PNL, Robert Sighiartău, declared, on Monday, in Digi24, that Ludovic Orban must resign from the leadership of the party, because of the way in which the political party was conducted “discretionally”. Sighiartău states that “we have joined the PSD many times because of the behavior of some of my colleagues in government and because of the way certain people were promoted into public positions.”

“From my point of view, yes (Ludovic Orban has to go – ed.). The NLP lost the general elections. Unfortunately, we could not have a discussion about these elections and we did not do an analysis in BPN about what happened, because, at the In the end, people are always right, and in the general elections the NLP was ranked second, after PSD.

There were several mistakes during the Orban government, regarding the management of the pandemic and not only, but what bothers me the most is the fact that I was often put on the side of the PSD because of the behavior of some of my colleagues. in government and in the way certain people were promoted to public office.

The people were not filtered by a specialized commission, as the statute says, our colleagues did not vote in BPN. In the last year, the party has been run at his discretion by the party president. At that time I said that it was not the case to open the issue, because we had options and for tactical reasons we remained silent.

We need to discuss within the party and elect in the congress that will take place in June or in the fall a team that can lead NLP in the first place and that continues with the strengths that NLP has.

We have efficient people in local administrations. Unfortunately, due to the negotiations conducted exclusively by President Orban, we put aside these strengths and the development platform that we had with respect to Romania.

I had a discussion with President Orban and I told him that the negotiations are not in favor of NLP and that what is happening in NLP is not right.

At one point, Ludovic Orban wanted to remove Florin Cîțu again and I told him that even from the moral, human and part of the party’s strategy, it is not right for Florin Cîțu to surrender and for Mr. Orban to return, after he resigned and lost the elections. Mr. Orban did not agree with what I told him.

We need a team that negotiates for the game and not for individuals, ”said Sighiartău.

He says that many party colleagues are unhappy that the PNL has given away important ministries for the development of Romania.

When asked why he and Rareș Bogdan made these remarks public now, the Liberals general secretary said: “It was good if we had these discussions at BPN, it just hasn’t been convened for some time.”

“It is clear that we are entering a campaign logic for congress. It is not necessarily a scandal, there are things that must be said, because they were kept too much in the corridors and offices of one or the other, ”said Sighiartău.

Asked who should assume the leadership of the political party, he said: “For now, there is a reformist group in the PNL. Emil Boc, Ilie Bolojan, Gheorghe Falcă, Florin Roman, Alina Gorghiu and many others, the young generation who want a different approach. “

The first vice president of the PNL, Rareș Bogdan, criticized the leader of the Liberals, Ludovic Orban, saying that he led the party alone, without him and other leaders of the territory having “any real power within the government.”

The MEP said he regretted that, after losing the parliamentary elections, he did not demand Orban’s resignation from the party leadership. Furthermore, Rareș Bogdan says that “we have to reconfigure ourselves based on the reformist people we have, with a good image, supporting Florin Cîțu.”
