The Miercurea Ciuc meteorological station recorded, on the night from Saturday to Sunday, minus 23 degrees, the lowest temperature recorded in the country.

It is cold in Joseni, minus 21 degrees and in Târgu Secuiesc, minus 20 degrees.

According to the National Meteorological Administration in Miercurea Ciuc, on Sunday morning it is minus 22 degrees and the snow cover has reached nine centimeters.

Other low temperatures recorded on Sunday morning are minus 16 degrees at Iezer Peak, in the Pietrosul Rodnei Mountains, and also minus 16 degrees in Bacău. In Vaslui the temperature dropped to minus 14 degrees and in Focșani to minus 13 degrees.

This weekend, the entire country is under a frost alert. ANM announced extremely cold and cold weather during nights and mornings.

Minimum temperatures will frequently drop below -10 degrees and will generally be between -18 and -8 degrees, with the lowest values ​​in intramontane depressions, especially in eastern Transylvania, below -20 degrees. The daytime highs will be mostly negative and will generally be between -10 and 0 degrees.

Meteorologist Oana Păduraru told Digi24 that it is the coldest morning this winter and that weather estimates show that, from Monday night to Tuesday, temperatures are likely to drop further, in clear sky conditions.

In cold conditions, the snow will be in small areas and weak in quantity, the meteorologist added.

The weather information is valid until Wednesday at 10:00 am.

According to meteorologist Oana Păduraru, as of Wednesday, temperatures will begin to rise and reach values ​​even higher than normal for the period.
