Costel Alexe, a former Minister of the Environment in the Orban government, is under investigation by DNA for taking bribes of 22 tons of tin. Currently president of the Iași Provincial Council, Alexe says that he “learned with surprise” and that he “took note of the statement from the National Anti-Corruption Directorate.” The former minister denies in a statement the accusations presented by DNA and assures that he wants “as soon as possible the culmination of this approach that will expose exactly the reality.”

Costel Alexe: “I was surprised to find out and took note of the statement from the National Anticorruption Directorate on the proposal to initiate the criminal investigation against me.

I want to mention the following:

I trust in the act of justice and I want as soon as possible the culmination of this approach that will expose exactly the reality: I have not asked for and have not taken undue benefits in violation of the law in all my public activity.

I will not make any public reference to this situation at this point in the judicial process, but I assure you that in the next period I will study the accusations that are brought against me and I will offer all my cooperation and transparency before the judicial bodies ”.

DNA wants to start the criminal investigation against the former Minister of the Environment, Costel Alexe

DNA demands that the criminal investigation be launched against Costel Alexe, former Minister of the Environment, current president of the Iași County Council, under investigation for taking bribes and inciting the embezzlement of funds.

The Chief Prosecutor of the National Anti-Corruption Directorate sent the report of the case to the General Prosecutor of the PÎCCJ, to notify the President of Romania of the formulation of the request to carry out the criminal investigation against a former deputy in the Romanian Parliament, at the time of his mandate. He is accused of taking bribes and instigating embezzlement.
