“I had a discussion with Mr. Bode, because he also appeared in the public space, and USR PLUS colleagues raised questions. We had a discussion with Mr. Bode and we both agreed that as a result of what happened on August 10, Mr. Cazan should no longer have operational responsibilities, because the way he acted raises issues even for professional ethics, ”said USR-PLUS co-chair Dacian Cioloș.
“I understood that Mr. Bode will take measures so that Mr. Cazán no longer has operational responsibilities, but only administrative ones, so that he no longer has people under his command so that we have surprises like those of August 10. You will most likely be removed from Prahova and have other administrative responsibilities. It’s hard to trust the way such a man acted. Minister Bode agreed with me that a formula must be found whereby Mr. Cazan no longer has people with operational actions under his command ”, added Cioloș.
The Interior Ministry specified that Laurențiu Cazan, coordinator of the gendarmes’ intervention in the August 10 demonstration, was appointed to lead the Prahova County Gendarme Inspectorate “to ensure continuity.”
„Regarding the qualification of Lieutenant Colonel Laurențiu Cazan in IJJ Prahova, we make the following clarifications: The decision was made to ensure the continuity of the management of this unit, as a result of the transfer of the former commander to the reserve, based on the art. 85, paragraph 1, letter b of Law No. 80/1995 on the status of military personnel ”, mentioned the Ministry of the Interior.
Laurențiu Cazan was assigned to IJJ Prahova and released for a period of 6 months “in a position equivalent to the one she held in the Bucharest Gendarmerie”.
The order of the Inspector General of the Romanian Gendarmerie regarding this power was signed on 12/21/2020.
Laurenţiu Cazan was the coordinator of the intervention of the Victoriei Square gendarmes in the rally on August 10, when violent incidents occurred.
