Hundreds of tourists gathered on Sunday morning, starting at 7.30 am, in the Sinaia gondola to make sure that after the crowds of a day ago, they will be able to reach the slope as soon as possible. However, due to the strong wind, the slopes of Sinaia were closed.
On Sunday, there is a code yellow of strong wind and snow blizzard in the high mountain areas of nine counties.
The skiers hoped to take advantage of the last day of vacation and get to the slopes as soon as possible.
They waited since 7.30 in the Sinaia Gondola, before opening time.
However, it was still windy and icy in the morning so the high altitude facilities (Gondola Carp, Chairlift and Chairlift) weren’t on.
Three hours later, facility managers announced that due to wind over the facility’s operating limit, constant frost deposition, the Carp gondola, Sun Chairlift chairlift and Sun Valley chairlift will not operate Sunday.
