On Saturday, the Prahova gendarmes imposed fines of 3,000 lei for not wearing the protective mask of some of the tourists who intended to climb the high slopes of Sinaia. Huge lines formed at the boarding stations on the cable cars and tourists waited in some areas for almost two hours to climb the mountain. On the Sinaia Gondola Facebook page, tourists posted photos showing hundreds of people queuing at the boarding stations of cable facilities.

According to data provided to AGERPRES by the Prahova County Gendarme Inspectorate, in Sinaia, a seaside resort where thousands of tourists queued up the slopes of the Alpine gap, 20 gendarmes acted so that the cable transport facilities could be used in a safe way.

In this context, the gendarmes imposed six fines of 500 lei each for not wearing a protective mask.

The municipal manager of the Sinaia City Council, Marian Panait, told AGERPRES that more than 5,000 tourists climbed the slopes of the Alpine gap, and local authorities demanded additional gendarmes to ensure compliance with the measures imposed in the context of the pandemic.
