With the warmest December in 60 years, the start of 2021 came with particularly warm weather for the calendar date. It exceeded 14 degrees Celsius in the south and southeast of the country.
No wonder so many people came out to revive in the parks! Since Sunday, however, the weather has changed and meteorologists have announced rain and low temperatures in most regions.
Considered the coldest month of the year, January of this year knocks down any expectations: the first days of the year arrived with sun and temperatures 12 degrees higher than normal for this period.
On Friday 14 degrees were registered in Calafat, and on Saturday the mercury in thermometers rose to values that exceeded 12 degrees Celsius in many stations in the south and southeast of the country.
Elena Mateescu, director of the NMA: “The still high temperatures in most of the country, with values that will generally be between 3 and 16 degrees Celsius in the next period, at least until the end of this decade, a much warmer climate , compared to the first decade of January in our country “.
According to meteorologists, December 2020 was, in fact, the warmest month in the last 60 years, with a maximum of 19 degrees Celsius, in Zimnicea.
Roxana Bojariu, climatologist: “This comes as a logical consequence of the traffic in the Atlantic-European sector, in the west of the continent, we have lower temperatures, but in the package due to the traffic between the south of our country, we are dealing with these temperatures much higher. You can see the consequences of last year, in which the expansion of Arctic ice has been consistently below normal for that period. “
Many Romanians took advantage of the sun outside. At noon, for example, in the Youth Park in the capital, hundreds of Bucharest residents went for a walk.
Also in Brasov the atmosphere was springtime and the walks were lively from the early hours of the morning.
The picnic areas were also crowded. People packed up the leftovers after the holidays and enjoyed them in the sun.
However, over the next few days, meteorologists say temperatures will drop and it will rain, especially in mountainous and mountainous areas.
