Norway is very concerned about the importation of cases of people infected with the new coronavirus for two reasons, Prime Minister Erna Solberg said.

For one thing, there are concerns about outbreaks of new strains of the virus that are thought to be more easily transmitted, Solberg said.

On the other hand, many people return to Norway from countries where the infection rate is significantly higher, the Norwegian prime minister added.

To date, Norway has not been severely affected by the new coronavirus pandemic compared to other European countries and has one of the lowest infection rates in the European Economic Area, along with Finland, Iceland and Greece.
