Terrible images were filmed in the historic center of Rome.

Thousands of birds, many dead, others disoriented and scared, unable to fly, were trapped on the asphalt. The video captures birds flying desperately during fireworks, then crashing into high-voltage cables in Rome’s historic center, writes La Stampa.

The fireworks displays were organized despite the ordinance prohibiting them, from December 31 to January 6. The ordinance provides for fines of up to 500 euros and confiscation of explosive material.
